Yes the World Cup finally comes to an end ! Ever since I remember of following a world cup, this one has been the most boring, un-enthusiastic, long and a sad one.
First of all, two of the most entertaining & talented teams viz India and Pakistan were knocked out in the 1st round and if that was not enough, the death of Bob Woolmer was a body blow to the entire tournament. Bob certainly was one of the most charismatic faces of World Cricket and will always be remembered for his innovative ways.
Though, India and Pakistan did not make it to the super 8 stage, they created enough news back home to keep the world interested.
There were some great moments as well, such as interesting new records of a Six sixes in an over by Gibbs and 4 wickets in 4 balls by Malinga. This also will be remembered for the Best Player of the tournament being a fast bowler in this hugely batsmen dominated game and the one playing his last series !!
Gilly playing an amazing knock in the finals will also be remembered for quite some time. He was just unstoppable.
I am not too happy with the Aussies winning this world cup, as I have said before to couple of my friends, a Victory of a Goliath is never celebrated. It is getting monotonous and boring actually ! Aussies to their credit have grasped this game of Bat and Ball well. I wonder when this domination will come to an end.
The Aussie bench will be only tested when the greats like Adam, Ponting retires and till then other sides will have to wait and just observe the Aussie juggernaut role on .
It will be good for the game in the long run, if the Aussie bench is not that warm and that gives another nations some time to catch up !!
